Today I’m gonna talk you about a discovery I did a few months ago: the baobab.
It is one of the so called “superfood“. It comes from Africa, the baobab is a giant tree, known as “tree of life” (some of them have lived 4000 years), from which we will consume the fruit in powder form. It is a rich source of vitamin C, potassium, thiamine, calcium…
Personally, I use it in smoothies and milkshakes, or pour 1-2 tsp to desert recipes when preparing the dough. It is specially good on pancakes. It doesn’t have a texture or flavor that change the recipe, maybe it sweetens it a little, but it is a pleasant taste, and it is an extra intake of nutrients, which it is very convenient in some periods of the year.
I found it looking for any superfood to boost energy, and it seems to be working.
Some of the benefits of baobab:
- Supports the immune system
- It is energetic.
- Healthy nervous system.
- Boosts iron uptake.
All this properties are due to its high nutrient density, baobab contains: magnesium, potassium, iron, vitamin C, calcium, zinc, copper, phosphorous, dietary fibre…
There are so many brands in the market, I’m now using this in the images, the packaging design is an extra for the kitchen aesthetics if you let it in sight, though this way it will finish sooner considering you can use it in so many preparations due to its versatility ; )
