“Big Food, Grrrreat Market” took place from September 25 to September 27 in the Matadero of Madrid. Event in which gastronomy and design joined hands and, through “market stalls”, recognized chefs, young promises, restaurants and designers from Madrid showed us their different proposals and creations in form of “tapas“.
Gastronomy and design
In this singular scenario you can taste many small delights worthy of Michelin starred restaurants, so it’s a big opportunity to come by and indulge yourself with this luxury to the palate and the eye. The aim of the event is that these artisans, chefs, producers and designers merge design and cuisine in the best “tapa”, and it reaches the most people. In addition, each stand will explain you perfectly how the “tapa” has been done, ingredients and everything you want to know about the process, their restaurants / stores / products, etc., so for the curious, like me, this was absolutely perfect 😉
I was surprised by the fact that unlike what I thought at first, many “tapas” were pretty healthy, so I really pigged out on everything: Mini burgers wrapped in lettuce leaves with delicious spices and a touch of spice; vegetables and fruit skewers seasoned with pesto; a selection of a variety of seaweed and dried fish that surprised me very much – it could be eaten as a snack and it was so delicious; prawns marinated in fruit juice with banana chips…
Besides the “tapas” themselves, some of the exhibitors offered utensils and cookware, tinned food, chocolates, and a multitude of products to take home.
This was the first edition of an event that will get many to come, so I’ll likely be there as soon as it is back 😉
